The most glamorous time of the year is here! It’s award season. And 2017 was off to a very stylish start at last Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards. The A-list red carpet gets an A-plus for style! The night was studded with jaw-dropping looks from film and television’s finest actors (aka our favorite stalk-worthy celebs). And from Natalie Portman’s yellow gown to Jessica Chastain’s embroidered number, we saw a few trends we wouldn’t mind plucking from the red carpet for real-life rotation. Here are eight wearable looks inspired by the evening’s best dressed.

blush tones1. Pretty in Pink

From Emma Stone to Lily Collins, we saw a lot of pink at this year’s Golden Globes. We love a monochrome pink look, but you must choose wisely when putting it together. Stars like Felicity Jones did it right when going with paler shades. Throw in a few dusty pink pieces for added dimension.

2. Take the Plunge

Plunging necklines ruled the red carpet, and who doesn’t love a deep V? To bring this sexy neckline into real life, we love a long-sleeved bodysuit. (The sleeve length keeps it classy while maintaining the sex appeal.) Rock it with a pair of jeans and a biker for dinner, drinks, and beyond.

3. Floral Embroidery

Embroidery is a major trend for 2017, so we weren’t surprised to see it on the red carpet. Jessica Chastain donned a stunning detail-embroidered Prada gown. While Olivia Culpo went with a full-on floral Zuhair Murad dress. We say take this trend and run with it! From your boots to your bag, go all out in flora and fauna.

suiting

4. Suited Up

We love a girl in a suit. Especially on an occasion where everyone else is wearing dresses. And this cool-girl approach to dressing is easily adaptable to real life. While everyone is wearing dresses and skirts, show up to an evening event with a sleek blazer and hot leather leggings.

metallics

5. Heavy Metals

The red carpet was shimmering and shining this yearmetallics in silver and gold were the stars of the show. So if you thought you had to wait until next New Years to shimmer and shine, think again! We suggest sticking to simple shapes. Like this Margiela shift dress with a matching jacket.

velvet

6. Velvet Rules

It’s no secret by now that velvet is the textile of the season. And we hope you’re not sick of it, because it doesn’t seem like it’s going anywhere anytime soon! Celebrities like Kirsten Dunst stunned us in her regal velvet dress. We suggest you make it casual chic with an oversized shift dress and long velvet duster.

yellow

7. Mellow Yellow

From Reese Witherspoon to Emily Ratajkowsk, several stars stepped out in bright yellow this year. While undeniably bold, yellow works on nearly any skin tone, and it’s the perfect way to welcome spring. Instead of going for a full-on sunshine yellow gown, try matching separates with a biker jacket and high waisted trousers.
