Green Party

Style News  /   /  By Nina Louie
Pantone—the authority on color, versed in every nuance and trend—recently announced the 2013 Color of the Year. The honor goes to emerald, a beautifully rich jewel tone that’s about to have a major moment.
Pantone describes emerald as a, “lively, radiant, lush green.”
We love the lushness of it, and the fact that it’s a strong, somewhat unexpected shade, whether you choose a dress, ring, jean, or shoe. There’s something inherently elegant about clothes this color, maybe because it’s an uncommon green—the color of rare gemstones rather than run-of-the-mill lawns. For whatever reason, wearing an emerald blouse, for example, inspires an extra measure of glamour in us—a bright lip, bold brows, hair that’s not so haphazard. It’s transformative, which is about as fun—and powerful—as color gets.
