Spied on the Street: All Good Things

Persons of Interest, Street Style  /   /  By Nina Louie

This is the kind of look that inspires us most, because we would never have put these pieces together on our own. The color mix is unexpected and the silhouettes are so diverse that it would never have occurred to us—except maybe through trial and error in front of the mirror. From a distance, it makes sense: she has stacked different hemlines, and textures (from fur to tweed), in the vein of  romantic pink-sunset-inspired shades, one on top of the other. And she has added bold black and white boots as a sort of punctuation mark on the look, for a fun twist. Each individual piece she’s wearing is exquisite, for sure. But what do you think? Does it all work together?

Though I like the idea of a fur capelet worn over a coat.. this doesn’t work for me as a whole. The individual pieces aren’t bad, but not together like this.

While I am well versed in mixing patterns and textures (years of experience has its charms), but I’m not loving the dress… The last layer is too random, even for a seasoned eclectic like me! I say give the outfit a calf length pencil skirt (even a black or charcoal with a lightly printed design would work great) and we’re good!
