Spied on the Street: Gladiator Girl

Persons of Interest, Street Style  /   /  By Nina Louie

The gladiator boot is an interesting animal. Half sandal, half boot, and totally bohemian in a sexy, Free People kind of way—we were surprised to see it on this young, straight-laced New Yorker. Chanel handbag? Check. Pinstriped poplin shirt? Check. Clean white miniskirt? Check… Who would have guessed that these preppy staples would keep company with the ultimate hippie-chic sandal? Do you think it works? We’re thinking—against all odds—it actually might. Maybe it’s the neutral color that almost disappears against her skin. Or maybe it’s the perfect pedicure.

This girl looks good in them. I know a girl that has some in black that looks awful in them. She is sickly thin and it looks more like wobbly scaffolding climbing up her legs. This look takes a particular person to pull it off.

She executed the look well because she followed the rules to wearing the gladiators. First, the color blends well with her skin tone which detracts away from the buckles and straps. Next, her outfit and accessories are simple which makes the gladiator the statement piece. Lastly, her gladiators are the perfect height for her legs, not too tall. She slayed!
