On Our Radar: Ulla Johnson

What would Jemima Kirke’s character, Jessa Johansson, wear if she went to Coachella? We think she’d be jonesing for a breezy, beautiful Ulla Johnson ensemble. The designer’s floral maxi dresses, embroidered lace tops, crochet fringed cardigans, and peasant blouses are undeniably bohemian without being overdone. And with their pretty embellishments and easy-to-wear shapes, these looks can go anywhere.

The global influence on Ulla’s designs can be credited to a few different sources. She travelled extensively with her archaeologist parents, has gone on research trips to Morocco and Japan, and most of her business is produced in Peru and India. In addition to her international following, Ulla’s loyal fan base has organically infiltrated the pop culture scene as well. Stars like Jennifer Lawrence, Amber Heard, and Jenna Dewan Tatum are just a few among the pack who love to live in Ulla’s soft and flattering pieces.

Johnson had her first New York Fashion Week show in September of 2014, and just last month, she cut the ribbon on a new Bleecker Street shop. With her brand on the rise, Ulla Johnson is certainly one to watch. And whether you’re hitting the city or combing the beach, her delightful creations will put new “spring” in your style.
