Splurge or Steal: Diamond Drop Earrings

We are back again with another shopping dilemma: would you rather invest in a splurge-worthy item or would you be happier with its reasonably-priced counterpart? We found two absolutely gorgeous pairs of drop earrings that add a stunning dose of sparkle to any outfit. The two pieces share a similar wow factor—but one has an 18K white gold setting while the other is sterling silver. Both feature beautiful Asscher-cut center stones—but one is diamond (1.00 carat with G-H clarity), while the other is cubic zirconium. The question is: would you pay an extra $10,000 for a little extra shine? Or, would you stick to the under $25 find? Check out these high/low options and tell us which one you prefer.

2 3 splurge

The Splurge: Asscher-cut diamond drop earrings (2.50 carat total) with an 18 karat white gold setting. $10,499.

2 3 steal

The Steal: Asscher-cut cubic zirconium drop earrings with a 925 sterling silver setting. $22.99.

What do you think—can these two pairs compare? Which one would you wear—or is the answer obvious?

A true lady always dresses using the adage of “less is more”, especially when it comes to wearing jewelry. You must always try to make the impression of understated elegance but in this case it maybe a little difficult when you are showing 2.5 carats of diamonds. A lady would wear these simple but truly elegant earrings that will show her proper upbringing and her schooling by Emily class. The settings are regal and are just enough to show that it’s not always the amount of diamonds that are worn but the style and simplicity that elicit the eye catching looks.

The Asscher-cut cubic zirconium drop earrings with a 925 sterling silver setting show the “bling” of this set using diamonds that surround the solitaries. These were made for the Nauvoo Riche person who thinks that the more diamonds you can encrust around a setting the better. Again, less is more.
