Yep, it’s that time of year. New Year’s resolutions are a distant memory, BBQ and ice cream are the mainstays of your “diet,” and your workout routine is taking a backseat to summer fun. To help you start and maintain a fun new fitness regimen this fall, we’re bringing you outfit ideas for every kind of workout. From barre class to boxing, we’ve got you covered. After all, if you’re gonna push yourself to the limit, you might as well look great doing it, right?
Sure, yoga is all about inner peace but that doesn’t mean you should sacrifice your outer style. Look to celebrity faves like Outdoor Voices and No Ka’Oi (here, the sports bra is from the former and the leggings are from the latter) for the coolest clothes. And if you missed out on the Alexander Wang x H&M yoga mat, you can still find a few listings on eBay.
2. Rock Climbing
To move with maximum freedom, you’ll need clothes that are close to the body yet relaxed. That means your best bet is soft pants or sporty joggers. Top off the look with a fun graphic sweatshirt in case you grab coffee after class.
3. Outdoor Running
As the weather cools, you might need a layered look to get you outside. Here, the high socks and Puma shoes are from the streetwear brand ICNY, which designs clothes specifically made for nighttime running. Reflective panels for the win!
Spinning was probably one of the most popular workouts last year. It’s heart pumping and pretty fun, some instructors even turn off the lights and bring a disco ball down! But don’t think all the entertainment means it’s easy, you’ll definitely need a sweat towel for this workout—might as well make it a cute one.
Sparring and kickboxing are celeb favorites for releasing stress and leaving it all in the ring. Dress the part in a muscle tank and high-waisted gym shorts. Bonus: you can also wear these Puma boxing shoes off duty. Kylie Jenner has been known to bust them out at night.
Instead of the basic black Speedo, go for a tropical printed one-piece that’s stylish yet practical. After your post-swim shower switch to a comfy look with soft knits and UGGs.
7. Weight Training
It can be intimidating to walk into a weight room full of pros pounding protein shakes. But don’t be shy, stand out at your local gym in fun prints and colors. Show them you mean business. You got this, girl.
8. Barre Classes
Are you obsessed with Starz’s Flesh and Bone, too? We never thought we’d see the return of the Center Stage alums! Safe to say, we’ve dreamed of being ballerinas since we were kids. While we don’t have the patience or the talent to go pro, we can still dress like primas during a ballet-inspired barre class.
9. Weekend Hiking
When did hiking get so popular? Maybe it’s the Instagram effect. Since everyone in your crew is loving mother nature lately, we’ve created a warm yet functional outfit, complete with a walking stick!
10. Hip Hop Dancing
The standard look may feature a beanie and baggy clothing, but we wanted to up the ante a bit. Layer jogger shorts over bright leggings and add an eye-catching piece like an iconic Kenzo sweatshirt.
