Sure, we love to experiment with seasonal trends—but too many fads can be exhausting. Going into the new year, all we want is a calm, cool, sense of order and a clean slate. Let’s get back to basics, focus on the essentials. Let’s cleanse our closets and break free from fast fashion—at least for a little while. Read on to see which winter must-haves we’re locking into rotation and how to wear them (hint: they go with everything).
1. The White Shirt
You know that feeling of putting on a crisp button-down shirt? Mmm, it’s heaven. While fussier button-downs can feel stuffy—a little too polished—there’s something so sexy about a classic white shirt, understated and cool. Here, we chose one with a removable black tie for a subtle ’70s twist.
2. The Striped Tee
Some say that Saint James makes the best nautical tees around. We say: choose whichever one feels best. After all, the beauty of a simple striped tee is its effortlessness. Pair it with anything… a sequined mini, white denim, printed joggers, and more.
3. The Unexpected Ankle Boot
Boot collection feeling a little blah? Try a classic silhouette in a bold color this winter. We’re a little obsessed with this rich green shade with its soft suede texture. We just might need this exact pair (which is by Acne if you’re curious).
4. The Minimalist Coat
Gray has to be our all-time favorite neutral color. It’s just as versatile as black but a shade more interesting. We love the minimalist vibe of a structured wool coat in a pale, heathered hue. From Zara to Isabel Marant, it’s easy to find similar styles at every price point here on eBay.
5. The Chic Cross-Body
Hands free is how we like to roll. Over the holidays, Vogue suggested that cross-body bags replace clutches at night because of their chic functionality and ease. We couldn’t agree more! We love the structure of this Chloe saddle style and in rich, wintry, maroon.
Check back on Monday for the second half of our list!
