6 Ways to Wear the Waist Cincher Trend

Featured, Outfit Ideas, What's Trending  /   /  By Lily Montasser

We first saw the waist cincher trend at last year’s Spring 2018 fashion week, when bloggers and designers used waist belts and corsets to cinch their middle. While the hype has died down a bit, the cincher continues to be one of our favorite unconventional accessories.

This trend is less about creating an hourglass figure, and more about breaking up the silhouette in unexpected ways. Think Marie Antoinette corsets over street-style tees, or cinched belts with baggy men’s suiting or flowy dresses.

1. Blackout

Simple and chic, an Alaia waist belt is the perfect way to add some texture to an all-black ensemble. Just rock it with your favorite LBD and you are good to go.

2. Strong Suit

Matching plaid sets are e v e r y t h i n g this season. Give the look a unique spin with a super-cinched waist. Equal parts edgy and super chic, this is definitely a fashion risk worth taking.

3. Lady in Pink

While everyone’s doing all black in winter, you do all blush. A super-feminine corset with an oversized streetwear tee is an undeniably cool way to rock this look.

4. Western Woman

Nothing says spring like a Zimmermann dress. Faded florals, an equestrian-inspired waist belt, and western boots will bring out your inner country girl.

5. Influencer Inspired

A killer street style look, the boyfriend-jean-and-graphic-tee combo is already a winning outfit in our book. Throw a red waist cincher into the mix, and you’re golden.

6. Middle Man

A corset is also a great way to combine two separates into a seamless look. Case in point: this piece from Zana Bayne, that turns a simple white top and midi skirt into a whole new dress.
