There’ve been some extreme weather shifts in my neck of the woods over the past few weeks. One day it’s bright and sunny and the next day it’s pouring rain. As a result, my lips have become terribly dry and parched. To soothe them, I have been in search of a more natural and moisturizing lip balm and decided to give it a personal touch and make my own at home.
Ingredients:
- Beeswax
- Virgin Coconut Oil
- Shea Butter
- Vitamin E Oil
- Lipstick
- Vanilla Essential Oil
- Mini Plastic Pot Jars
- Metal Grater
- Microwave Safe Bowl (or a Glass Measuring Cup)
Steps:
1. Grate ½ cup of beeswax.
2. Add grated beeswax and ½ cup of virgin coconut oil in a microwave safe bowl. Heat in the microwave for 1 minute (or until the ingredients have melted down).
3. Add ¼ cup of shea butter, ⅛ cup of vitamin E oil, part of a lipstick (for color) and 10-20 drops of vanilla essential oil. Heat in the microwave for about 30 seconds (or until the ingredients have melted down).
4. Stir well.
5. Pour into mini plastic pot jars, then refrigerate until they reach a solid consistency (about 1/2 hour). (For another lip tint color: add a second lipstick into the melted mixture to create an alternate shade. Heat for about 30 seconds, then stir well. Fill the remaining pot jars and refrigerate for about ½ hour.)
