It’s Joy Adaeze here, blogger of JoyLovesFashion.com. Last week, I brought you a play-by-play of my Day 1 adventures at New York Fashion Week. Here is a rundown of Days 2 & 3: all the craziness from German TV crews to Carine Roitfeld and Lady Gaga sightings. Read all about it!
On Day 2, I wore a Clover Canyon dress, Steve Madden shoes I got on eBay, A Khirma Eliazov clutch and Mercura monkey shades. This is one of my favorite looks all week. The scuba fabric of this dress is unbelievably comfortable and works in both warm and breezier weather. Amazing!
This day began with the Rubin & Chapelle presentation downtown on at the Standard Hotel penthouse. The weather was warm and the view, paired with the clothing was absolutely breathtaking. I wish every show could take place here. The draping and deep charcoal hues were a standout.
At Rubin & Chapelle, I filmed with German television show, Exclusiv. They were doing a story on the day in the life of a blogger during NYFW and followed me around for three days, while doing fun interviews.
After the show, the cameraman, producer and I left for Lincoln Center to take in the Rebecca Minkoff show. And what a show! Janelle Monae amped up the crowd with an electrifying performance as the models took to the runway in cool separates with unexpected pops of color. More designers should do live performances.
After Rebecca Minkoff, there was a car to take us to Daily Front Row’s first annual Fashion Media Awards. This event will go down in history as the most epic! That night I rubbed shoulders with Betsey Johnson, Karlie Kloss, legendary stylist Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, Carine Roitfeld, and many more. And it didn’t stop there. Tim Gunn, Marc Jacobs, and Lady Gaga were amongst those who presented awards that night!
What a way to end Day 2!
Day 3 started bright and early at Lacoste. For the show, I wore a faux leather crop top and bold printed high waist pencil skirt by a new deisgner called Nnative. I accessorized the look with Preen for Aldo heels, Khirma Eliazov clutch, H&M necklace and Mercura rhinestone shades. Being Nigerian, I’m attracted to all types of African prints. This is definitely one of my new faves.
This Khirma Eliazov clutch has been my go-to. It’s roomy and so stylish.
After Lacoste, I headed over to a nearby French bakery for a quick refuel. With all the craziness of the week, it’s super essential to remember to eat!
I shot parts of German TV’s Exclusiv in my apartment in between shows.
Before leaving for the Porsche Design show, I changed into this colorful Issa London dress, Zara platform sandals and a silk turban form my upcoming line. I always carry flats with me during NYFW. Gotta stay comfortable in between shows.
First stop: backstage where I chatted with the male models and lusted over Bobbi Brown makeup. Oh la la!
Before the show, I interviewed Lilly Becker (wife of German tennis star, Boris Becker). We talked about her personal style, fave bloggers and timeless Alaia shoes.
I also did some fun interviews for German TV’s Exclusiv!
The Porsche Design show was a hit! Leather is definitely back next Spring in a major way. Here is my favorite look from the collection.
I love seeing Carine Roitfeld at show week. She is such a powerhouse!
And guess who I had the great pleasure of sitting behind? Janie Bryant, costume designer for Mad Men!
Wonder if I can beat Day 3?! Stay tuned for another update tomorrow.
