It’s Joy Adaeze here, blogger of JoyLovesFashion.com. Yesterday, I brought you all the deets from my Day 2 and 3 adventures at New York Fashion Week. Here is a rundown of Days 4 and 5, everything from scantily clad male models in front of Lincoln Center to an obligatory Anna Wintour sighting at Tommy Hilfiger. You’ve got the 4-1-1!
I had the opportunity to interview one of my favorite designers, Tracy Reese, backstage before her show and I was thrilled! Tracy is awesome and so fun to chat with. Plus, her show is the first I ever attended years ago!
During the interview, I asked Tracey about her Spring inspiration, five staple items she couldn’t do without and fashion tips she learned from her mother. I had a great time with her. She’s so chill and fun.
Snapped a cool pic of this model backstage. How sick is her faux tattoo?
After the interview, I had an hour to kill, so I hung out in front of Lincoln Center where you’re always bound to see some eye catching antics. Today it was a bunch of male models walking around in their swim trucks. Not a bad view at all!
Time for Tracy! The show featured live drummers who lent to the upbeat, infectious music. The theme: Afro Cuban with a mix of feminine styles and athletic punch. Bravo, Tracy!
After the show, I got interviewed by Cocoa Fab about my style and the day’s outfit. Always love talking about fashion!
I headed to the Edun show afterwards which was all about mixing black and white prints and plays on proportion. I loved it! Fabulous show.
Looking forward to what Day 5 has in store! This week is racing by.
I got up at 6am to work on a writing deadline I had due, and caught the beautiful morning sunrise. Great way to start the day!
Today’s look is one of those last minute outfits you put together that ends up being kinda epic. I literally had minutes before leaving for Tommy Hilfiger to get dressed! I’m wearing a SuperTrash leather jacket with python accent, a TopShop shirt, Uniqlo skirt I got on eBay, Zara heels, my ever present Khirma Eliazov clutch (told you she’s my fave!) and my Mercura monkey mirror shades (yet another must have!).
My first show of the day was Tommy Hilfiger. The venue was filled with sand dunes to go along with his laid back California inspiration. And look who was in front of me: Anna Wintour and her signature bob. She has fabulous thick hair, that Anna! I got an eye-full the entire show.
Tommy’s show was full of surprises. He had loads of leather and neoprene colorblocking for dresses, skirts, literally every piece! It was so refreshing and I can’t wait to get my hands on it come next Spring.
The man of hour taking his much deserved victory lap!
After running to grab lunch at Starbucks (their turkey sandwich was a life saver!), I hopped downtown to Karen Walker’s boho inspired show. Think slouchy knits, pom pom beanies and oversized shades.
Next, I interviewed Alice + Olivia designer Stacey Bendet at her stunning presentation. We talked about her inspiration for Spring, what inspires her in general when designing and what she thinks about the rise of bloggers. Great interview!
The collection was full of incredible moments. Case in point: lust worthy lace up heels, lots of print and amazing silhouettes. There was nothing I didn’t love!
After Alice + Olivia, I raced uptown to my friend Cameron Silver’s book party. Cameron is the owner of the highly popular Decades vintage store in LA, author of Decades: A Century of Fashion, and star of Bravo’s Dukes of Melrose. He’s such a wonderful and talented guy! Happy to support the 2nd edition of his book!
Whew! That’s it for today! Check back on Friday for a rundown of my Day 6, 7 & 8 NYFW adventures!
