Katie Hintz-Zambrano

Persons of Interest, Storytellers  /   /  By Roxanne Fequiere
Occupation:
Senior West Coast Editor, Refinery29.com
What she’s wearing:
Levi's denim jacket, blue maxi dress
Hometown:
Lincoln, NE
Describe your style:
A mix of preppy (lots of stripes) and San Francisco hippie (long, flowing dresses).
Latest obsession:
My brand-new baby son, Diego!
Any beauty secrets?
A bold lip goes a long way! When I don't have much time to get ready, I'll add a little foundation, blush, mascara, and a bright orange or pink lip and it looks like I made much more of an effort than I actually did.
Your saved eBay search words:
Dries Van Noten, Marni, Proenza Schouler, Tibi, maxi dress.
Who is your style icon?
I don't have a specific icon, although Kate Moss is pretty incredible. More often, outfits in editorial and street style photos inspire me, as do my well-dressed friends.
Next on your must-buy list:

An upgraded wedding band. Right now mine is plain white gold, but I want to add another band to the mix, probably a rose gold version accented with tiny diamonds.

Favorite eBay find ever:

A Proenza bustier top.

You collect…

Amazing girlfriends! My job allows me to meet a bevy of creative, driven, and inspiring women, many who have become fast friends of mine. When it comes to fashion, though, I have growing collections of stripes, maxi dresses, and Keds.

What’s at the top of your wish list?

A white Dooney & Bourke Happy Bag. It looks like the perfect size to stash a pair of flats, which is essential in hilly San Francisco.

What’s the eBay item that got away?

A pair of Dries Van Noten pumps. Sadness!

Whose closet would you raid?

Jenna Lyons, hands down.

Guilty pleasure:

Cheesy reality television. Namely, The Real Housewives of Atlanta and Beverly Hills, American Idol, and The Voice. I suppose watching Mad Men and 60 Minutes adds a little class to my DVR, as well.

Dream getaway:

Kauai, Paris, or Tuscany. Although now with the newborn, I’ll have to settle for wine country, Big Sur, and all of the amazing weekend trips found around Northern California.

Favorite gift you ever gave:

I planned a pretty amazing weekend trip for my husband’s forty-second birthday last year. We stayed at the Milliken Creek Inn in Napa, played tennis at Meadowood, and dined at Boon Fly Cafe and Farm at The Carneros Inn. It was really indulgent and the whole thing was a surprise to him.

What you wish would show up on eBay:

One of Beyonce’s new Mugler stage costumes for $10. Ha!

Song most played on your iPod:

“Pony” by Ginuwine. It never ceases to elevate my mood.

Favorite city to shop in:

Even though I lived in NYC for nearly nine years, I have to go with San Francisco! I’m a HUGE bargain hunter, and the thrifting scene here is incredible. I’ve scored a Margiela skirt for $12, people!
