Hometown:Old Saybrook, CT
Describe your style:
Latest obsession:I'm very interested in the new patterns coming out in menswear. It's time we look beyond stripes, camo, Aztec, florals, and polka dots for men. Emerging brands like Sir New York are playing with new concepts in patternmaking and it's very fresh.
Your saved eBay search words:Yuketen shoes, Quoddy ring boot, Lanvin boutonniere, RRL, Norwegian sweater, hook belt.
Who is your style icon?Too many to pick one! Robert Plant, Kris Kristofferson, JFK, Steve McQueen, Miles Davis, Dennis Hopper. And when all else fails, I ask myself, “What would Bobby D (Bob Dylan) do?” It's a great question for all of life's quandaries, style and otherwise.
Next on your fashion must-buy list:Common Projects Derby Shine shoe.
Favorite eBay find ever:The most perfectly fitting, perfectly worn-in leather motorcycle jacket. I've had it for ten years now.
I’m not a vintage fanatic. However, I’ll go to any length to get my hands on items of the heirloom variety. Scratched up watches, ties with stains, and ripped coats are all just old stuff to me. But, if the stains, rips, and scratches are there because of my grandfather, or any family member, then they’re part of my history. Adding an item like this to a crisp modern outfit puts depth into it and makes average days feel like an occasion.
What’s at the top of your wish list?
What’s the eBay item that got away?
Whose closet would you raid?
Glenn O’Brien. I’m sure his closet is an immaculate museum of menswear classics.
Tulum, Mexico. Or, anywhere with a low amount of tourists, good food, hammocks to lay in and warm clear ocean to swim in.
Favorite gift you ever received:
My Cartier Tank watch given to me by my mother, previously owned by my grandfather.
What you wish would show up on eBay:
Everything I want! And for cheap!
Song most played on your iPod:
“Simple Man” by Graham Nash.
Favorite city to shop in:
A couple of years ago, I would have said NYC, but it may be San Francisco now. It’s a toss-up.
