NYFW Street Style: Kimono? Kimo-yes!

Persons of Interest, Street Style  /   /  By Sarah Wetmore

The style we’re spotting outside NYC Spring ‘16 shows right now is proving altogether as inspiring as what’s strutting down the runway beyond the velvet ropes. One of the most recent looks we’re loving is this one, worn by Take Aim blogger Michelle Madsen. Kimono-inspired jackets are officially having a moment, and to this emerging trend we say, “Kimo-yes!” Bring on the comfy cozy belted beauty of traditional Japanese full-length robes, updated for your chic modern disposition.

Michelle kept her outfit streamlined and functional by pairing her IRO kimono jacket with Ray-Ban sunglasses, gently flared black The Fifth Label trousers, black Adidas Stan Smith sneakers, and a black Botkier bag. The reason this street style look works so well is because monochromatic accessories allow Michelle’s kimono jacket to shine. All black pieces, besides the jacket, keep the look polished and not too casual. We’re all for this fashion forward trend—how bout you?

Return to Style Stories all next week (and every Thursday thereafter) for more of our favorite street style outfits, and where to find all the exquisite details on eBay.
