Featured, Sneaker Picks  /   /  By Sarah Wetmore

One of the hottest places to see, be seen, sell, resell, and sneaker stalk last weekend was Sneaker Con NYC. With November 5th being National Sneaker Day, and street style spotting being one of our favorite pastimes, you know we were in the middle of the action. We took notes on the most popular kicks on the feet of influencers and original individuals and brought our report home to our Style Stories readers.

It’s no surprise that all forms and fashions of Kanye West’s Yeezy sneakers are at the top of our list. It’s undeniable that the artist can successfully and creatively collaborate. Paper Magazine attests, “Kanye West’s Adidas-branded Yeezys…have become the most coveted and collectible kicks among the sneakerheads.” Yeezys weren’t the only manifestation of West’s effect on popular culture and current fashion trends; Sneaker Con attendees extended their affections for Mr. West’s design skills via Saint Pablo world tour wearables.

Other trends simply paired with sneaker fanatics’ lifestyles like mashed potatoes pair with gravy: cinched pant hems (all the better to show off your sneakers with), bold socks (all the better to draw more attention to your sneakers with), and classic bomber jackets (all the better to complete the athleisure aesthetic with). Read on to discover the other trends we spotted at Sneaker Con, and get inspired to build that perfect function-conscious weekend, travel, or turkey-eating outfit.
