After their runway debut last autumn, Gucci’s kangaroo-fur lined slippers took the fashion world by storm. And it seems that last season’s “it” shoe is here to stay, as fashion superstars like Danielle Bernstein of We Wore What are still repping them all over Instagram.
These are not your grandfather’s slippers. Or are they? The Gucci “Princetown” is a mash up of memories—an unconventional take on the old and familiar. And this can be said of Gucci’s whole line now, thanks to newly appointed creative director Alessandro Michele, who is just as extravagantly eccentric as the woman he designs for. Since Michele’s takeover in early 2015, Gucci has quickly regained cult status. We love the grandma-goes-off-the-deep-end aesthetic that the longhaired Italian has brought to the brand. And so does everyone else. The “new Gucci” has bloggers and editors decked out in Michele’s twisted visions of timeless classics.
These leisurely loafers also nod to the “pajamas in public” trend that swept the Spring 2016 runways. From lingerie-inspired pieces at Givenchy to PJ sets at Thakoon, we didn’t know if we were at a fashion show or a slumber party. And it didn’t take long for the sleepwear-as-daywear trend to hit the streets. What do you wear with your silk pajama top? Your Gucci slipper loafers, of course.
But with waiting lists and sold out stores, getting your hands on a pair is not easy. That’s where we come in—right now, there are a precious few on eBay waiting for you to cozy on into them!
