Is Mellow Yellow the New It Color of the Season?

Featured, Persons of Interest, Street Style  /   /  By Sarah Wetmore

If you’re sick to your stomach of Millennial Pink, we’ve got just the fashion medicine for your color fatigue that’s anything but influenced by Pepto Bismol: Gen-Z Yellow or Mellow Yellow.

So what’s the deal with the banana-hued star of the color wheel that’s managed to eclipse even the recently announced 2018 Pantone Color of the Year?

It could be that this shade of yellow is a shift away from gender conformity, a refusal to be put in a metaphorical box, and a rebellion against labels.

Maybe it’s a move toward androgyny, or perhaps just a punch of zest and brightness that we all need during this time of the year—and this time in our nation’s tense socio-political climate.

Some say fashion’s recent penchant for yellow might be cautionary and a reaction to the recent stock market wobble

Add your two cents in the comments, and let us know if you’re yearning for yellow or violently objecting to the poppy-colored trending tone that’s notoriously tough to wear, no matter the season or cultural climate.

Take a spin on the opposite side of the color wheel with Ultra Violet.
