Spring Outfit Inspo: How to Make Khaki Cool Again

With spring finally here, it’s time to take the season’s top trends into full bloom. And one of our favorites for the year is khaki. From ladylike ruffles to structured streetwear, just about every designer featured this utilitarian textile on their spring runways. So from oversized separates to monochrome layering, check out our six stylish ways to rock khaki this season.

1. Layer Up

A color this good calls for head-to-toe layering, and you can pull together a killer monochromatic look with city-chic essentials. Mix-and-match simple pieces for an outfit that’s stylish yet understated.

2. Little Khaki Dress

This Alexander Wang safari dress is the perfect spring piece. Pair it with combat boots to play on the military influence.

3. Ruffled Up

While khaki is typically associated with more a clean-lined, masculine aesthetic— designers like Carolina Herrera took a more feminine approach to the color. We love a ruffle-y khaki ensemble with heels and a long tiered skirt.

4. Short Suit

The cargo short is back! And designers and influencers are embracing the awkwardness of this mid-length cut. Style it up with a super high flatform and voluminous top.

5. Thigh’s the Limit

In 2017, bigger is better. Streetwear all-stars like Yeezy showcased oversized outerwear with nothing but thigh-highs. Consider taking your cred up a notch with Kanye’s over the knee boots and a large, khaki cape.

6. Skirt of the Season

Everyone’s obsessed with knotted mini skirts for spring, so why not rock one in the color of the season. Stick to the utilitarian aesthetic with an Equipment button down and Prada lace-up booties.
