The 24 Best Brands to Shop When the Mule Mood Strikes

Accessories, Featured, Listings We Love  /   /  By Sarah Wetmore

Loafer mules have carried us through spring, but it’s high time we dive head first into summer mule season. We’re ready to trade classic penny straps for tassel and pompom detailing, minimalist leather slides, brightly colored chunky suede heels, pearl studded double straps, knotted bow toppers, and smooth crisscross straps. With Mother Nature bringing us teasing peeks of sun soaked days and festival chatter weighing so heavily in the air, we can’t get flamingo-shaped pool floats and swaying palm trees out of our heads, and with garden parties and desert landscapes come summer mules. Spanish slides, Moroccan babouches, and Chinese slippers; they’re all there.

We weren’t always sold on the backless flats, however. How did mules get such a bad rap anyway? The sound they make when when they slap, slap, slap against your naked heel? The way you’ve got to grip your toes so they don’t fly off your feet? But, Carrie Bradshaw… and Marie Antoinette… But, they’re so EASY to wear… Slip on. Slip off. If you’ve ever bought into the clog craze, you’re halfway there. Join us this season. Let’s all wear mules and enjoy the ease of application they offer while conveniently providing us an excuse to schedule recurring pedicure appointments. Sound like a plan? Click through to our favorite mule makes below.
