The 5 Most Wearable Trends From NYFW

Why should we wait until fall to start sporting the trends showcased at NYFW a few weeks ago? Fashion is going through a total “wear now” phase anyway, so let’s do just that. We’ve narrowed down our 5 favorite doable trends from the runways. Jump ahead of the pack with these ways to wear them this spring.

The Cropped Peacoat
It’s hard to reinvent a classic but the cropped take on the peacoat really impressed us this season. When you hear the words boxy and short, it can go two ways, you either love it or hate it. Tibi’s and Tommy Hilfiger‘s cropped sailor coats were big l-o-v-e-s for us. Perfect for work, weekend, and more.

We’ve been feeling the dress-over-turtleneck trend since last year but this season’s shows featured much more than solid knits and sweaters. Our favorite look came from Australian label Tome. They used delicate lace turtlenecks as a basehow gorgeous is that? We immediately wanted to recreate the look for future date nights.3 9 outfit 3

The Skinny Scarf
While Diane von Furstenberg and Zimmerman were both showcasing matching scarfs often attached to boho dresses, we thought we’d go for a casual Americana look for spring. Just imagine how a skinny scarf will look flowing in the wind in your next #ootd. Dreamy, right?

Asymmetrical Everything
Forget what you’ve been taught, your outfit doesn’t need to be perfectly centered or aligned. There were lots of carefully-placed asymmetrical hemlines at Narciso Rodriguez and since it was a fall/winter collection, the colors and cuts were dark and moody. For this spring, go for soft Easter shades and proportional silhouettes.

The Skirt Suit
Michael Kors, Jason Wu, and Tory Burch were all serving up matchy-matchy skirt suits with thigh-high hemlines. We haven’t seen a skirt suit we’ve loved so much since the days of Ally McBeal. To get the look now, pair the ’90s revival with mod boots and sharp accessories.
