Wanted: Stylish Winter Boots

Most Wanted, What's Trending  /   /  By Nina Louie

This week, millions of people in NYC and the surrounding states are hunkered down while a blizzard rages outside. With them in our thoughts, we rounded up the 7 best-looking boots for the snow season. Because braving cold, wet weather feels so much better when you love what you’re wearing—and it really is possible to fall for a pair with a practical side.

1 25 nowles black

1. Isabel Marant Nowles Boots

Ridiculously cute with adorable dimensions, the Nowles boot is the one you see the celebs wearing at Sundance. With a hidden wedge, soft shearling lining, and a thick rubber sole—plus alternate red laces for that classic vintage hiking boot look.

1 25 sperry

2. Sperry Topsider x J.Crew Boots

So fun—especially in pretty pop colors like salmon pink and jade green. These boots boast a slim silhouette, plus playful color-blocking (hello, neon!), and a fuzzy fleece lining perfect for… California. Because while this boot has a great cozy outdoorsy look, our sources tell us it won’t keep you all that warm. Read on to find blizzard-ready boots.

1 25 bean boots

3. Bean Boots

These have almost the same slim silhouette as the Sperry for J.Crew boots—with way more street cred for weathering the cold. The leather upper sheds rain and snow while a supportive steel shank makes them super comfortable inside (not mushy like some snow boots can be). Rubber “chain” pattern treads provide excellent traction, too. There are tons of lesser-quality copies out there—but these are the originals. You can trust them to stand the test of time.

1 25 sorel

4. Sorel Joan of Arctic Boots

If the first three boots don’t look tough enough for you, Sorels will do the trick. The Joan of Arctic is the one to get—with a waterproof full-grain leather and suede upper, super-tough sealed soles, and a removable recycled felt lining featuring a faux-fur flourish. These look so good with skinny jeans—their almost-to-the-knee height gives them that sexy snow-bunny look.

1 25 baxter

5. Rachel Comey Baxter Boots

Hard to find, even on eBay, the Baxter boot is an indie fashion favorite. It’s an all-weather boot with a treaded rubber sole and leather accents. We love its signature tri-color look—simple and chic with our winter wardrobe staple: black jeans. Plus, the absence of fur or fleece makes it versatile enough to wear in spring rain.

1 25 tretorn

6. Tretorn Skerry Vinter Boot

A perfect weatherproof boot for lighter-weight winters like you might find in Northern California or the Pacific Northwest. With a cute short height, a sporty rubber exterior that’s just right for rain, and a poly-shearling lining that’s surprisingly cozy. If your winters run a bit harsh, this is a great option for the transitional months of moderately wet weather.

1 25 timberlands

7. Classic Timberlands

You might not know it, but Timberlands are some of the warmest boots around. Great in rain and snow alike, you’ll never slip in these babies—and you’ll never have to worry about them going out of style. We love the look with skinny blue jeans, a Rodarte sweatshirt, a menswear-inspired overcoat, and a beanie. That’s all you need.
