What To Wear To NYFW

Influencers, Persons of Interest  /   /  By Joy Adaeze

Joy Adaeze writes a blog called JoyLovesFashion. She’ll be chronicling NYFW for us, starting with this post on what to wear to the shows! Check back on Friday for her first report on her adventures at Lincoln Center.

With New York Fashion Week on the near horizon (it starts Sept 5!) it’s all about wardrobe, wardrobe, wardrobe. Since the street style phenomenon hit the tents, standing out from the pack and showing off your unique personal style has become an essential part of the NYFW experience. Photographers aside, fashion week is still the place to break out your best ensembles and celebrate style. To get you ready, I’ve created a look for the trendy, sophisticated, and sporty gal.

Pair a white crop top with a digital print high waist pencil skirt. To accessorize, add strappy snakeskin heels, a cool gray foldover clutch, and a bold statement cuff. Pretty pink shades finish off the look—along with gold nail polish, nude lipstick, and Dolce & Gabbana perfume.

Go chic in a fit ‘n flare dress. This black and white frock comes alive with the addition of leopard platforms and a black and silver art deco style bangle. A red lip later, and you’ll make an impression not soon to be forgotten. A 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli bag and Calvin Klein iPhone case can’t hurt, either!

For a casual-cool look, start with black leather shorts and a grey tee. Add on a glitzy statement necklace to create a fun mix. Keep the rest of your accessories minimal: a sleek nude purse, white snakeskin heels, and silver sunglasses. Blue nail polish creates a fun pop.
